WHAT IS BOXING?
Boxing is a combat sport in which two players fight by throwing punches at each other.

TYPES OF BOXING
There are two types of boxing styles Amateur and Professional,
In amateur boxing, the men's category has three minutes of three rounds with one minute of a break in between the round,
and the women's category has two minutes of four rounds with the same rest period in between the round.
They have to be in uniforms according to their corners red and blue.
In Professional boxing a maximum of 12 rounds per match, with no uniform color code necessary.
The bout is decided according to age and weight class.
Amateur boxing is an 80% anaerobic and 20% aerobic sport anaerobic means conducting an activity without oxygen,
and aerobic means working with oxygen. Whereas Professional boxing is mostly endurance-based due to more rounds.

BOXING RULES
Foul - boxers are only allowed to throw punches in the match other than striking from below the belt, elbow, shoulder, knee, foot, or
holding and spitting will be foul. Boxer would lose points or will be disqualified from the match.
They also cannot hit before the starting bell or after the bell for a break.
3 knockout rule - if a boxer gets knocked down 3 times in a round, he/she will be considered knocked out from the match.
10-count rule - when a boxer gets knocked down on the floor the referee counts to 10 he/she gets 10 sec to get back up or he/she loses.
Boxing Referee & Officials - the referee is an individual who is supposed to conduct the boxing match freely and fairly, the referee will give instructions to the boxers before the fight, determines when to start/stop the fight, and gives foul on non-legal moves.
Judges watch the whole fight ringside and give points according to the landed punches, fouls, defense, footwork, etc.
BOXING TERMINOLOGY
like any other sport boxing has its language that boxers speak, but might not able to be understood by spectators.
And it is helpful to know some terms better than getting confused about what's going on, below are some helpful terms you should
know if you want to watch boxing or become a boxer.
Bout - refers to a match, an organized fight in a playing arena.
Clinch - an act of leaning excessively on the opponent for support, if both boxers are clinching the referee will call a break.
Combination - a series of punches thrown quickly is called a combination.
Knockdown - when a boxer falls to the floor as a result of a blow from an opponent.
Knock Out (K.O) - when a player is knockdown for more than 10 secs he/she is declared knocked out and the opponent wins the match.
Low Blow - a blow below the belt that can result in a foul.
Neutral Corner - the corner that the boxer has to retreat to after he/she knocks down his/her opponent, also called the white corner.
Ring - is the match's playing area with four corners connected with ropes.
Round - the match is made up of 3 rounds in Amateur and 12 rounds maximum in Professional one round consists of three minutes, with one minute of a break between the rounds.
Split Decision - refers to two out of three judges scoring one boxer as the winner, while the third judge favors the opponent.
Weight Class - Boxing matches are divided into different classes according to the weight of the boxers, to conduct a fair match there are 15 weight classes both for men/women in boxing.
Weigh In - refers to weighing both the boxers to ensure that they are according to their weight class, it is done before the Bout.
